AGU Scientist Referral Service (climate science) Project champion & Member liaison Feb. 2010 - August 2011
The new AGU referral service provides a resource for members of the media seeking interviews with climate scientists across a wide range of disciplines. Media members can contact AGU's Public Information Manager (Peter Weiss) and be referred to scientists who have expertise in the media member's specific topic of interest. Referrals will be drawn from a large pool of scientists who have volunteered their time to answer media questions.

AGU Climate Science Q&A for Copenhagen Project Founder & Director Nov. 2009-Feb. 2010
The American Geophysical Union agreed to sponsor a Q&A service in fall 2009 for journalists attending the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. In collaboration with about a dozen volunteers and AGU staff, we were able to take the effort from idea to completion in under two months.
Roughly 700 PhD-level scientists trained in the fields of climate science volunteered to staff an email-based Q&A service to answer questions from reporters. Groups of six scientists took turns on two-hour shifts during the twelve days of negotiations. While the volume of questions was lower than anticipated, the response from participating scientists and journalists in surveys after the event was overwhelmingly positive.
